18th Annual MacDonald Turkey Point Marina London Children’s Hospital Charity Bass Tournament September 2018
On September 16, 2018, 88 anglers from throughout Ontario competed in the 18th annual MacDonald Turkey Point Marina Charity Bass Tournament benefiting the London Children’s Health Foundation. This year’s charitable campaign and tournament has raised over $13,000 and counting which brings the eighteen year grand total to $127,096 and counting.
Taking home the John Johnson and Madison Thomson memorial Bass Tournament championship trophies are this year’s winners Paul Costellano and Averie Bonin with a total weight of 19.83 pounds with 5 large mouth bass. Paul Costellano and Averie Bonin are also the big fish prize winners with a large mouth bass weighing in at 4.84 lbs. Great job! Thank you to Steve Moore for all the prize donations and the Weber barbeque for the silent auction, McCormick Canada, Al and Donna Thomson for donating a one of a kind Canadian champion rainbow trout carving for the silent auction, all the participants, the sponsors and the volunteers. These efforts would not have been achieved over the past 18 years without your valued support. Thanks also goes to Jason Barnucz for being our weigh-master and Erie Bassmasters for the donation of the scales, Long Point Anglers’ Association for their generous donation of the live release boat. We are proud to inform everyone that all bass were released alive - zero mortality - a job well done.
Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets for the 50/50 contest draw and participated in the auctions for the BBQ, the Rainbow Trout carving and also the handmade cutting boards donated by John Weerdenburg. Thank you also to all who joined us Labour Day Sunday at the Jetty to listen to the great music performed by local artists, Ian McAllister and classic rock band Powerglide. Thanks to the Jetty staff and management for joining together with us for this event. Your donations were greatly appreciated.
First Place winners, Paul Costellano and Averie Bonin, receiving the John Johnson and Madison Thomson Memorial Trophies from the Thomson and MacDonald Families.
Great day of fishing on Long Point Bay for this couple enjoying the thrill of tournament fishing.
On behalf of the Thomson family and MacDonald Turkey Point Marina, thank you for your support and we look forward to next year’s event.
A CHILD’S HEALTH IS THE GREATEST GIFT
